About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Learning Support Specialist in SEMH Education. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEMH needs, promoting academic and personal development.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviours, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive student progress.
  • Apply trauma-informed practices to better understand and address student needs.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children who display challenging behaviours.
  • Strong character and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Deep understanding and empathy towards diverse backgrounds of pupils.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles is desirable.
  • Transferable experience from roles such as support worker, care homes, young offenders, etc.
