About the Role

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Substance Use Team. As a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the assessment, treatment, and management of individuals with substance use disorders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consultation and liaison to clinical teams and ward staff using evidence-based and client-centered principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Model the C-BIT (Cognitive Behavioural Integrated Therapy) approach and other evidence-based interventions through joint working with multi-disciplinary staff.
  • Lead in establishing, running, and regularly evaluating group programs and 1:1 interventions.
  • Develop and deliver training packages for Secure Services staff and provide input into their delivery alongside other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of substance use interventions using advanced clinical skills and knowledge in evidence-based interventions.
  • Provide clinical leadership for staff through management supervision and training.
  • Work closely with third sector organizations like Narcotics Anonymous to run joint interventions.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to Trainee Assistant Practitioners.

Person Specification

  • Registered nurse: RMN/RGN
