We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor Trainee to join our Commercial team at Barratt Developments. As a key member of our team, you will assist with commercial and surveying responsibilities for our sites, ensuring the delivery of high-quality homes at the best possible cost.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with updating cost control procedures and working within Group policies and procedures.
- Compile weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as required, and provide general departmental administration support.
- Assist with accurate costing for each aspect of site development and compile reports on costs and cash flows using available support systems.
- Prepare tenders and procure sub-contractors using Group Tender procedures, and process Subcontract orders, payments, and variations using Excel and Group payment system (COINS).
- Evaluate and agree on variations and instructions for smaller trades, and maintain relevant filing systems and databases.
- Attend team meetings as required and complete general departmental administration tasks.
- Provide other appropriate ad hoc duties and administrative support as needed.
- Must show a willingness to study for surveying and carry a valid CSCS card.
- Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail, able to gather, interpret, and present data to facilitate budget preparation and subsequent valuations.
- Methodical, conscientious, and organized, with the ability to work to deliver high standards.
- Intermediate to advanced level of proficiency with MS Office and Excel programs, and a good standard of written English.
- Articulate, clear, and credible, with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work on own initiative, with strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
- Self-disciplined, with good time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
