Production Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading automotive component manufacturer in Llanelli as a Production Manager. The company is part of an internationally represented group with a rich history and a progressive approach to innovation.
As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating engineering activities, including health and safety, and ensuring that equipment is optimized to minimize the risk of accidents and injuries. You will also attend and support problem-solving activities, production meetings, and daily management meetings. Additionally, you will deal with customers on a one-to-one basis regarding issues and engineering changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate engineering activities, including health and safety
- Ensure equipment is optimized to minimize risk
- Attend and support problem-solving activities, production meetings, and daily management meetings
- Deal with customers on a one-to-one basis regarding issues and engineering changes
- Support the development of manufacturing engineers with current and new equipment
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (OEE) on improvement areas and act accordingly
- Develop, install, commission, and validate new, modified, and re-sited equipment and facilities
- Recommend contingency planning to cover equipment failure, including recommended spares
- Plan and coordinate shutdown activities relating to projects being worked on
Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Manufacturing Engineer within an automotive or mass manufacturing environment is essential. A BSc in an Engineering Discipline (preferred) or a recognized 4-year apprenticeship in an engineering discipline is also required. Experience with Lean manufacturing, workstation layout design, 5S, and SMED is desirable. Project managing shutdown/improvement activity experience and a thorough working knowledge of welding processes and technologies (Spot and Mig) are also essential. A thorough understanding of Project Management and Process Optimization techniques and financial awareness, including previous experience of monitoring budgets and understanding financial implications of decisions, are also required.
