Senior Ecologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Ecologist to join our team at Neo Environmental Ltd, a leading planning and environmental consultancy. As a Principal Ecologist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality ecological services to our clients across a range of projects, with a focus on renewables.

• Conduct ecological surveys, including Phase 1/Fossitt habitat surveys and IVC's, protected species scoping surveys, and bat surveys.
• Produce comprehensive reports, including preliminary ecological appraisals, ecological impact assessments, EIA chapters, biodiversity management plans, protected species assessments, and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements.
• Liaise with clients and statutory consultees to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
• Attend client and site meetings to provide expert ecological advice and support.
• Undertake ECoW role where required and provide line management responsibility and team leadership duties for the Ballymena office.

• Hold a degree in ecology or a related field.
• Have significant professional report writing experience.
• Have good knowledge of Irish ecological legislation and regulations.
• Have experience of Phase 1/Fossitt habitat surveys and IVC's.
• Be technically competent and able to produce high-quality reports for clients.
• Be flexible and willing to travel across NI and ROI with occasional overnight stays away from home.
• Hold a full driving license and own transport.

• Hold CIEEM accreditation.
• Have demonstrable postgraduate experience in ecology surveys.
• Have ornithology experience, which would be advantageous.
• Have bat survey experience.
• Have GWDTE experience.
• Have Ecological Clerks of Works (ECoW) experience.
• Have knowledge or experience using ArcGIS or similar.
• Have other protected species survey experience and licenses.
