About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Capital Actuarial Analyst to join our team at The Medical Protection Society Limited. As a key member of our Actuarial team, you will play a crucial role in delivering best-in-class analysis to support capital modelling and actuarial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of annual capital assessments for MPS discretionary business, ensuring accurate and timely results for financial planning and decision-making purposes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the capital model used for annual capital assessments, ensuring it remains up-to-date and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with actuarial colleagues to deliver the annual capital model update and continually improve the capital model, including parameterisation and validation.
  • Work with actuaries across the capital and reserving function on actuarial projects, leveraging your expertise to drive results and improve processes.
  • Ensure the quality of data used in actuarial processes is of the highest standard, reconciling to source data from the data warehouse and implementing data quality controls as needed.
  • Stay abreast of best practices to ensure all actuarial work meets the highest standards, identifying opportunities to improve the use and understanding of actuarial analysis within MPS.
Requirements
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, or Computer Science.
  • Excellent Excel skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a keen eye for accuracy.
  • Ability to present data, analysis, and conclusions clearly, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of programming languages and their application in a data science and statistics context is advantageous but not essential.
