We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Apprentice Engineering Technician. As part of our commitment to the long-term maintenance and restoration of the waterways, you will play a key role in developing your skills and knowledge in civil engineering.
About the RoleAs an Apprentice Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for undertaking scheduled asset inspections, ensuring that they are completed to plan, data is reviewed, approved and recorded in the prescribed format, to the prescribed quality. You will also engage with our customers whilst inspecting on the network and promote a positive image of the Trust and the work it does.
Key Responsibilities- Undertake scheduled asset inspections and ensure they are completed to plan
- Engage with customers and promote a positive image of the Trust
- Provide technical support to the wider engineering team
- Develop simple, bespoke solutions to identified defects based upon existing standard solutions
- Support the definition of maintenance, repair and renewal works for delivery by Trust teams and contractors
- Support internal and external enquiries associated with the assets
Our apprentices complete a Level 4 Civil Engineering Senior Technician Apprenticeship. You will complete your apprenticeship training both on and off-the-job, including regular attendance at our chosen training provider. All college-related travel costs are paid for by the Trust.

Requirements- Interest in fixing rather than throwing away and a keen problem solver
- Ability to work in all weathers and enjoy the outdoors
- Full UK driving licence or willingness to attain one within 12 months
- Grade A-C or grade 9-4 in Maths, English and Science GCSE (or equivalent) already achieved or on target to achieve
