Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Economics Director to play a critical role in our Economics Team. As a senior leader, you will be responsible for providing economic leadership on complex and important merger, markets, enforcement, and digital regulation cases.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on individual cases from their early stages, particularly those raising complex economic issues.
- Ensure a 'culture of economics' is maintained, where economists share information on cases and provide analytical support to each other.
- Be accountable for ensuring the optimal allocation of economic resources across the CMA's projects.
- Grow, lead, maintain, and develop the Economics Team's culture.
- Play an active role in the ongoing corporate management and development of the organisation.
- Represent the CMA externally, building strong relationships with counterparts, including competition and regulatory authorities, Government Departments, economic academics, and consultants.
Requirements
- Be an excellent, senior-level competition economist with impressive academic and professional qualifications and experience.
- Have an outstanding track record of providing economic advice on complex cases, studies, and enquiries.
- Bring an in-depth knowledge of competition and regulatory economics and current issues in the field.
- Have the authority and ability to debate economic analysis with foremost academic economists.
- Have extensive experience of building and leading teams.
