Job Title: Financial Controller

The Financial Controller is a key role within our organization, responsible for leading a team that manages client accounting and financial reporting for our clients. The primary objective of this role is to ensure that property accounting matters are managed effectively and in a timely manner, in accordance with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all client and property accounting services are delivered to a consistently high standard and meet service levels required by clients.
  • Manage and build relationships with external clients, acting as a point of contact, ensuring agreed SLAs are met, defining and improving processes, and developing value-added analytics.
  • Support internal stakeholders, manage relationships, provide relevant analysis, and business advice.
  • Supervise the work of Client Reporting Accountants, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and proficiently.
  • Direct the team of 3 people that report to this position, providing leadership and motivation, and continually developing talent as appropriate.
  • Complete service charge reconciliations within three months of period end.
  • Monitor funding levels and initiate payments to clients and/or funding requests from clients to ensure appropriate funding levels are maintained.
  • Coordinate work of the team and resolve all queries arising from the financial management of the portfolio.
  • Design, improve, and implement the control frame, coordinating with Risk and Internal Audit teams when required.
  • Budgeting and forecasting is extensive, and the Financial Controller is responsible for overseeing this and delivering it.
  • Property disposals and completion statements.
  • Identify and analyze performance gaps, improve business understanding of profit drivers, and provide information for the operating plan.
Requirements:
  • Recognized professional accounting qualification (ACMA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Good technical accounting background with experience in a commercial financial environment.
  • Experience of managing or supervising others effectively.
  • Experience of dealing regularly with senior management.
  • Fully competent in all UK Accounting Standards.
  • Experience of having developed a financial budgeting and reporting system.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Excel and Access to an advanced level.
  • Experience of leading property management and accounting packages for managing agents.
  • Experience of accounting techniques, internal and external reporting, finance operations, and processes.
