Job Overview

Role Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Product Safety Team at BAE Systems Submarines. As a key member of our Integrated Development Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our submarine systems and capabilities.

About the Role:

  • Work collaboratively with System Engineers to influence submarine systems and capability development.
  • Develop an understanding of how submarine systems work and interact, ensuring that product safety is appropriately considered.
  • Contribute to all aspects of safety management and safety case delivery, including safety requirements capture and management, hazard identification and analysis, and safety documentation creation.
  • Support the development and maintenance of our safety management system, ensuring that it is effective and efficient.
  • Liaise with other Integrated Development Teams and the Whole Boat Safety Team to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.

Requirements:

  • Obtained or predicted 2:2 in a Bachelor's or Master's Engineering degree.
  • Understanding of 'Safety and Systems Engineering' and 'Engineering Life Cycle Management' principles.
  • Experience working in a team environment, with the ability to work independently and deliver tasks unsupervised.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Practical experience as a Product Safety Engineer in the maritime defence sector is desirable, but not essential.
