Behaviour Mentor SEMH Specialist Lewisham

A dedicated secondary school in Lewisham is seeking a compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentor to provide essential support to students with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people manage and overcome behavioural challenges, fostering a positive and encouraging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and review effective behaviour management strategies tailored to the individual needs of students with SEMH.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support helping students to manage behaviours that impact their learning, improve social skills, and build self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and teaching staff to design and adjust personalized interventions creating a stable, inclusive environment for student growth.
  • Observe and assess students' progress, contributing to reports and feedback that inform future support and behavioural strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour through mentorship and goal setting, acting as a role model to support students' emotional and social development.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience supporting students with SEMH needs in an educational or related setting.
  • A positive, patient attitude with excellent communication and empathy skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to adapt behaviour plans as students' needs evolve.
