Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily ordering of materials from external suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and minimizing costs.
  • Reviewing and negotiating purchasing agreements with suppliers to maintain competitive pricing.
  • Organizing waste removal from construction sites, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Updating delivery dates and expediting raw materials as required, maintaining effective communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitoring stock levels and liaising with supervisors to replenish stocks, ensuring business requirements are met.
  • Collaborating with Contracts Managers, Goods In, and Production to ensure stock availability issues are resolved.
  • Resolving delivery and invoice discrepancies with suppliers, Goods In, and Purchase Ledger.
  • Sourcing new raw materials suppliers and services, requesting samples and technical information as needed.
  • Negotiating with new and existing suppliers to secure the best possible deals.

Requirements:

  • Experience in purchasing within the construction industry, with a strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with strong administrative skills.
  • Ability to interpret and understand construction drawings and specifications, with a strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within the construction industry, with a focus on buying and procurement.
