About the Role:

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join an exceptional team of Secondary School's SEN department in York, North Yorkshire. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH).

Key Responsibilities:

Assist teachers in delivering engaging and interactive lessons
Work with children and young adults on a 1:1 and small group basis to help overcome their barriers to learning
Deliver pre-planned lessons to students identified as requiring additional support
Supervise students during class activities, ensuring their safety and well-being
Assist in the planning and preparation of teaching materials and resources
Collaborate with teachers and parents to provide regular updates on student progress

Requirements:

Experience and knowledge of SEMH
Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Certificate, Diploma, or Qualification
At least 6 months' experience in an educational setting
Ability to engage with young people and build effective relationships
Confidence in managing behaviour within a school setting
Awareness of and knowledge about different additional needs such as ASC, ADHD, MLD, and SEMH
Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education
