Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at a successful Primary SEMH School in Southampton. This is a full-time, term-time role starting ASAP, with the possibility of a permanent contract for the right candidate.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting children with challenging behaviours and complex needs in a small special school setting. You will work closely with the teaching staff to develop positive relationships with the children and provide individualized support to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support children with challenging behaviours and complex needs in a small special school setting
  • Work closely with teaching staff to develop positive relationships with children and provide individualized support
  • Assist with lesson planning and implementation to ensure children's needs are met
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to children to help them manage their behaviour and develop self-regulation skills
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as therapists and psychologists, to develop and implement individualized plans for children
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Experience working with children with challenging behaviours and complex needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals
  • Resilience and empathy when working with children who may exhibit challenging behaviour
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with children and their families
