The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join our team at Davenport Lodge Nursery School. As a key member of our early years team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences that cater to the diverse needs of our young learners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To model excellent practice and inspire children to reach their full potential, as outlined in the Early Years Inspection Handbook.
  2. To stay up-to-date with current early years initiatives and legislation, ensuring that your practice reflects best industry standards.
  3. To maintain consistently high expectations for child development and support learning through effective planning and assessment.
  4. To possess a secure understanding of child development and relevant subject knowledge to communicate effectively with children.
  5. To gather and share assessment information with parents and other professionals to inform teaching and learning strategies.
  6. To identify able or talented children and those who require additional support, enabling them to make good progress.
  7. To develop strong working relationships with parents by providing information on how children can progress and how they can contribute to this.
  8. To use evaluative tools to monitor and improve practice, ensuring a reflective and responsive approach to teaching and learning.
  9. To write accurate reports and document children's developmental progress using the Early Years Outcomes document and other relevant documents.
Requirements
  • A level 3 qualification in Early Years Education and at least 3 years of experience working with young children, particularly 2-5 year olds.
  • Experience of working with children and families, identifying support for developing children's learning.
  • Experience of working as part of a team and teaching and delivering planned learning experiences.
  • A good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS, Ofsted Education Inspection Framework, and relevant current legislation.
  • A good understanding of the developmental needs of young children, particularly 2- to 5-year-olds.
  • A good understanding of what constitutes a quality early education environment.
  • Good observational and assessment skills, with experience of maintaining accurate learning records for children.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.
  • Good teaching skills, including scaffolding, demonstrating, and role modeling, positive interactions with children.
Salary

£30,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
