About the Role

This position for the Security Officer will be fully trained in security operations. As part of the position, you will be responsible for patrolling malls, service areas, service desks, and public areas. You will advise tenants, when necessary, on management regulations, diffuse incidents, and prevent occurrences using minimal enforcement. You will also maintain fire, health, and safety regulations and secure the premises. In the course of duty, you will aid the public and shop mobility, provide first aid (if qualified), and use customer care procedures at all times. All duties will be carried out in adherence with the IFM Health and Safety policy. You will be expected to maintain personal appearance and hygiene at all times and ensure that company standards and policies are followed and maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Start shift promptly at the designated time, in full uniform.
  • Maintain a clean, smart, and tidy appearance at all times.
  • Be responsible for active communication of shift changeover to the on-shift supervisor, including handover of shift keys, PDA, confirmation of staff on shift, contractors on site, run-through of incident occurrences from the previous shift, confirmation of any insecure doors, and any matters pertaining to the smooth effective running of the shift.
  • Be aware of health and safety procedures and carry them out in line with the Health and Safety Policy, as indicated in the Assignment Instructions.
  • Be fully conversant with fire alarm procedures.
  • Act as an evacuation marshal in the event of a major incident.
  • Be aware of the location of all plant rooms, service corridors, and lifts, both by location and by name.
  • Assist tenants on request in the event of an incident, which may be in person, by camera, or both.
  • Assist police presence on site, either in person, by camera, or by statement.
  • Aware of responsibilities and powers as a member of the security team and when to hand over to police instruction.
  • Diffuse incidents and situations in the malls.
  • Provide first aid if necessary (this only applies to certified first aiders).
  • Security guards not trained in first aid must be made aware of the manned first aider on shift.
  • Knowledge of in-house radio usage and call signs.
  • Use the patrol monitor (Deister) system to assist with accident and incident control and prevention.
  • Responsible on night shift to maintain check calls as required.
  • Follow through any managerial instructions at all times.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in a safe, proper, and thorough manner, taking into account health and safety legislation, Incentive FM policies and procedures, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client and staff information.
  • Report anything in need of repair or replacement to the appropriate person.
  • Keep your working area and space clean and tidy at all times and your tools and equipment safely stored.
  • Be familiar with the required care standards regulations governing your job.
  • Maintain polite and good communication with your colleagues, tenants, and shoppers at all times.
  • Be prepared to receive and undertake further training as required.

Skills and Experience

  • SIA license (CCTV & DS applicable).
  • Experience of working and building partnerships with clients.
  • IOSH trained desirable.
  • Articulate and able to communicate effectively with clients and the IFM teams.
  • Organized individual who can demonstrate a record of planning and managing workflows.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of high-quality service delivery and its impact.
  • The ability to be agile and flexible to meet the needs and demands of the role.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and focus on ability to prioritize and multitask with clear ability to focus on detail.
