London, Greater London, United Kingdom EQUITY Full time

EQUITY seeks a proactive Policy & Public Affairs Assistant to join the policy team, playing a key role in shaping government policy and advocating for the rights of our members.

A typical day might include researching and analysing policy reports, drafting communications from the General Secretary to senior government ministers or groups of MPs, helping to organise meetings and events, supporting governing council members with queries, or arranging travel for Equity delegations.

This varied role requires strong research and analytical skills, ideally with a background in policy or public affairs, particularly in the labour movement or creative industries. You will be detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in handling complex data, familiar with the UK political system, parliamentary procedures, and current employment rights industry challenges.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable switching between policy, public affairs, and administrative tasks. If you have experience working with policy, communications, and industrial colleagues, Equity members, and external stakeholders, we would like to hear from you.

As a successful candidate, you will have the opportunity to work on various projects, including policy reports, briefings, and government consultation responses. You will also be involved in communicating with senior government officials, drafting correspondence, and managing relationships with external partners.

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about promoting the rights of creative professionals. We offer a competitive salary, estimated at £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as benefits such as 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays and Christmas office closure, and a Defined Benefit and Contributory Pension Scheme.
