Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Real-Time Software Developer for Electric Vehicles to join our team at the Institute of the Motor Industry. limited. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for developing and modifying real-time control software for battery powered electric vehicles.

As a successful candidate, you will have hands-on experience in automotive control systems, including LV and HV devices, and a strong understanding of electric motors, inverters, and battery management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and modify real-time control software for electric vehicles using MathWorks toolchain: Simulink, Stateflow, and Embedded Coder.
  • Work closely with the Head of Whole Vehicle and Head of T+D software to ensure compliance with latest legislative, functional safety, cost, and performance standards.
  • Provide support for in-vehicle testing, powertrain testing, and calibration.
  • Verify and validate control software using MIL and HIL testing.
  • Contribute improvements to the software to improve vehicle reliability, efficiency, and driving refinement.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive control systems development.
  • Strong knowledge of C or C++ programming languages, especially for embedded applications.
  • Experience with automotive serial communications protocols (e.g., CAN, Flexray).
  • Demonstrable expertise in LV system design in automotive applications.

Estimated Salary: £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
