National Grid plc is seeking a highly skilled Principal DevOps Engineer to lead the integration and software development activities that create a robust and efficient working environment for the systems and software life cycle.

Job Purpose

As a key member of the DevOps Tools & Engineering Department, you will contribute to the ongoing development of organisational policies, standards, and guidelines for systems integration, software development, release and deployment, database administration, and configuration management.

You will collaborate with software development teams to design and implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines, automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and Kubernetes, and monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure high availability and performance.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using various tools.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Manage and maintain cloud-based infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Partner with offshore and regional DevOps team members on automation projects.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the DevOps practice.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Scripting experience with Python, PowerShell, Groovy, Bash, SQL, YAML.
  • Good understanding of industry best practices for agile software development.
  • Azure, or other DevOps related certifications.
  • Experience working with Salesforce development teams.
  • Experience supporting deployments and builds in a 24/7 SaaS environment.
What We Offer

A competitive salary between £60,000 – £80,000, bonus of up to 15% of salary for stretch performance, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
