This role is critical in ensuring that directors and managers have the financial information they need to meet project objectives and support business decision-making. As a Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist, you will be a key player in driving financial accountability and supporting business leaders.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, with experience in commercial financial and planning environments. You will have a proven track record of producing high-quality forecasts, budgets, and corporate plans, and be able to provide insight-driven analysis of business activities to improve performance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Producing periodic analytical reporting to meet project area requirements within deadlines, using technology to automate and drive standards and efficiency.
  • Completing high-quality forecasts, budgets, and corporate plans within required deadlines.
  • Providing insight-driven analysis of business activities to improve performance and build budgets and forecasts that consider business performance and strategy.
  • Implementing and maintaining a continuous improvement strategy and culture.
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities to improve profitability through a sound understanding of revenue and cost base.
  • Acting as an internal advisor/consultant, sought out by the business for financial guidance.

Required skills and qualifications include:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems/data warehouses (Oracle/TM1).
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the business.
  • Proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to forge successful and challenging relationships across the business.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to explain complex financial issues to a non-financial audience.
  • Collaborative team-working skills.
  • Excellent quantitative, analytical, and financial modelling skills.

Experience in the rail or similar transport industry is advantageous.
