About the Role

This is an exciting 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave, where you'll gain invaluable commercial legal experience within a leading national retailer. As Legal Counsel, you'll work at the company's Northamptonshire office, providing commercial advice and contract management across various divisions. You will play a key role in managing intellectual property, handling data protection matters, and providing legal advice on a variety of business queries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and Negotiate Commercial Contracts
  • Manage Commercial Contracts Proactively and Liaise with Internal Stakeholders
  • Oversee the Intellectual Property Portfolio and Advise on Brand Management
  • Handle Data Protection Queries and Promote Data Protection Compliance Across the Business
  • Offer Timely and Practical Legal Advice on Various Commercial Issues
  • Stay Updated on Legislative Changes and Ensure the Business Remains Compliant
Requirements
  • A Solicitor with 4+ years PQE or equivalent experience.
  • A proactive, self-starting approach with a knack for identifying creative legal solutions.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-site business environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence at all levels.
  • Strong organisational abilities, able to manage a busy and evolving workload.
  • Commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach to balancing business needs with legal requirements.
