Senior Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Rolls-Royce SMR. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering industry-leading electrical systems for our new type of nuclear power station.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of Electrical Systems for the SMR nuclear power plant.
  • Deliver the complete design of the Electrical systems, spanning system architecture, sub-system design and equipment specification and design / selection.
  • Work closely with engineering teams from across the power station and apply a structured systems engineering approach to design.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience within the nuclear industry is desirable.
  • A proven record of working across the electrical system lifecycle in a regulated Industry (e.g. Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Rail, Automotive, Oil & Gas etc.).
  • Hold a degree level qualification in electrical engineering or a related subject.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes. It will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, helping to support the roll out of renewable generation and overcome intermittency issues.
