Learning Support Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Learning Support Assistant. This role involves providing targeted, personalised support to students with special educational needs, working closely with teachers and pupils to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
As a key member of our SEMH team, you will be responsible for supporting students with a range of needs, including SEMH, ASD, and ADHD. You will work independently with small groups, plan and prepare lessons, and develop strategies to promote student engagement and motivation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted support to students with special educational needs, including SEMH, ASD, and ADHD.
- Work closely with teachers and pupils to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Plan and prepare lessons and activities to promote student engagement and motivation.
- Develop strategies to support students with complex needs, including behaviour management and emotional regulation.
- Collaborate with the pastoral team to provide a comprehensive support package for students.
Requirements:
- A passion for working with young people and supporting those with barriers to their learning.
- Good behaviour management skills and the ability to develop them.
- Patience and empathy when working with students.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to staff professional learning and development.
Working Arrangements:
This role is based in Coventry and is part of the Coventry City Council team. The successful candidate will be employed on a 35-hour per week, 39-weeks-per-year contract.
