Learning Support Assistant

A reputable educational trust is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Individual Needs Assistant (0.4 FTE) to join their permanent staff in a Brighton-based school from January 2025, or sooner if available.
The successful candidate will provide vital one-to-one support for students with special educational needs, ensuring they have access to an inclusive and enriching learning experience.

Key Responsibilities:- Provide tailored support to students with individual learning needs, helping them access the curriculum.
- Work closely with the SENCO, classroom teachers, and other support staff to implement effective learning strategies.
- Support students' social, emotional, and behavioural needs in line with the school's ethos.
- Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment to promote students' independence and academic progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to review meetings as required.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally within an educational or care setting.
- A passion for supporting students with additional needs, including learning, behavioural, and/or physical challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Experience working within a school environment, particularly supporting students with SEN.
- Relevant qualifications in education or care (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and SEND Code of Practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
