Workshop Metalwork Technician

British Airways is seeking a skilled Workshop Metalwork Technician to join our Aircraft Workshop Services team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication under the supervision of our experienced engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance tasks that fall within the scope of workshop authorization
  • Rectify defects in accordance with approved maintenance data
  • Component changes arising from schedule maintenance inspections
  • Fluent in performing general visual inspections, detailed visual inspections, and other methods of surveillance inspection, maintenance checks, and tasks as defined within limitations of approved authorization
  • Issue certificate release to service
  • Develop and train knowledge share and provide coaching
  • Perform PC-based documentary transactions as required and make full use of modern technologies/processes

Requirements:

  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Recognized education qualification, ie NVQ Level 3 or HNC
  • Experience working in an aircraft maintenance environment as appropriate to hold workshop authorization
  • Experience of working with SAP and production support processes
  • Understanding of internal procedures and awareness of quality, health safety, human factors, and environmental legislative requirements
  • PC literate and good understanding of BA engineering IT systems
  • Understanding of BA employment policies and processes
