About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled professional to take responsibility for health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) across our offshore wind projects. As an Offshore Wind Safety Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring industry-leading health and safety advice is provided to clients and project delivery teams.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Prepare and chair safety workshops, such as HAZID, HAZOP, and DRA, to meet COWI and client safety requirements and processes.
  • Implement best practice in the offshore wind industry on our projects, ensuring compliance with UK national H&S legislation and international experience.
  • Continuously evaluate and develop our approach to safety management in offshore wind, incorporating lessons learned from industry experiences.
  • Maintain close collaboration with our HSW team to support overall business objectives.
  • Monitor project activity for compliance with H&S legislation, client standards, and management systems and procedures.
  • Deliver H&S training to project staff as required, promoting best practice in all elements of HSW both internally and externally.
  • Support project and office locations, conducting HSE planning, risk assessment, and safe systems of work.
  • Review and assess the competency of external designers, consultants, and contractors being considered for appointment on the project.
  • Report findings to the COWI UK Senior Leadership Team where concerns arise or improvements should be made to current procedures.
  • Undertake site audits and inspections to ensure adherence to H&S policies and procedures.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working within an HSE team, preferably in the offshore wind or closely related sectors.
  • A strong knowledge of Health and Safety in Construction, including relevant qualifications, such as NEBOSH Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • HSE Chartership or Cert. IOSH level accreditation, working towards full chartership.
  • Familiarity with offshore wind safety legislation and best practices.
  • The ability to influence teams to adopt the highest HSW standards.
  • Clear understanding of how health and safety is monitored through the design process to construction, maintenance, end use, and demolition.
  • Experience facilitating HAZID/HAZOP/DRA workshops.
  • Enthusiastic presence in external HSW forum groups and professional organisations.
  • Ability to demonstrate management and coordination skills to motivate and influence internal and external teams.
  • Excellent English communication skills, including writing, proofing, and editing.
