Job Summary

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Paediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Children's Epilepsy Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading an established team of clinical nurse specialists and working closely with our Children's Epilepsy Surgery Service to provide a holistic package of support to children and families with Epilepsy.

Main Duties

The post holder will work as an integral member of the Multidisciplinary Team within UHBW and across the community. The post holder will acknowledge and provide the overall responsibility for the provision of specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families, in-patient and out-patient, throughout their care pathway.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Children's Epilepsy Nurse Team
  • Develop and implement care pathways for children with Epilepsy
  • Provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients and families
  • Work closely with the Neuroscience multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of education, audit and research projects

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive and varied post registration experience
  • Substantial current speciality experience
  • Evidence of recent teaching experience
  • Experience of undertaking research or audit projects
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to lead and influence change
  • Flexibility, adaptability to meet needs of a changing service
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to cope with emotional issues presented in the course of work, and to support others
  • Knowledge of national and local specialty specific issues
  • Information technology skills
  • Commitment to the development and provision of high quality nursing care
  • Initiative
