Nursery Kitchen Assistant Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Bright Horizons Winchester Day Nursery and Preschool. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, supporting the Chef in food preparation, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep the kitchen clean and safe, adhering to internal and external requirements
- Support the Chef in food preparation and cooking, with minimal food wastage
- In the absence of the Chef, take responsibility for the running of the kitchen and ensuring all dietary requirements are catered for
- Promote and ensure child welfare, protection, health and safety, and safeguarding
- Support the Chef to ensure budgetary requirements are met and stock levels are suitably managed and recorded
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen role, preferably in a domestic or commercial setting
- Passion for nutrition and inspiring others in healthy eating
- Food Safety CIEH L2 or above (or equivalent) – this must be passed on day 1 in post
- Sound knowledge of COSHH and managing different dietary requirements
- Great communication skills, with colleagues, children, and parents
- Ability to work under pressure
