About the Job

The Subject Manager, Language and Literature will lead and manage the assessment of a portfolio of subjects within Group 1 of the Diploma Programme. This includes ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and fairness of assessment in the portfolio of subjects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of examiners, including senior examiners, to ensure high-quality assessments.
  • Manage international teams of senior examiners and be responsible for all assessment-related activities, including examination paper authoring, standardization, and grade award.
  • Work closely with other departments, particularly those within the Education Office, to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
  • Represent the IB at international conferences and events to promote the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Fluency in any European language, with proficiency equivalent to a native speaker.
  • A qualification at degree level or equivalent, relevant to the subject manager's area of responsibility.
  • Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in educational assessment, teaching, or research.
  • Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from statistical information.
  • Excellent spoken and written skills in English.
  • Ability to lead and work within a team and to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Competence in using standard office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects to agreed timelines.
  • Ability to present effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes.
