Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrician to join our team at the Portsmouth Naval Base. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical work, including reading and interpreting electrical drawings, and carrying out electrical testing and installation. The contract length will be for 6-12 months with a possibility for extension.

Key Responsibilities

• Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, MDS, and guidance information

• Carrying out electrical testing on 12v, 24v, 110v, 240v, and 440v systems

• Executing various crimping techniques and soldering

• Carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, and defect rectification in accordance with project schedules to meet customer quality expectations

• Installation, testing, and maintenance of communications equipment such as VHF radios, Intercom, GPS, and AIS

• Fault diagnosis and defect rectification

• Carrying out detailed inspections and being fully conversant in the use of all measuring equipment

• Using and calibrating measurement equipment

Requirements

• Completion of an appropriate trade apprenticeship or naval equivalent qualification

• Good understanding of safe systems of work, including electrical work, confined spaces, and working at height

• Marine or offshore experience with a deep understanding of electrical work
