Job Title: Principal Nuclear Warhead Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Nuclear Warhead Safety Engineer to join our team at AWE Plc. As a key member of our Warhead Engineering Surety Group, you will be responsible for providing technical assessments and advice on the major hazards associated with nuclear and explosives products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake technical assessments and provide advice on safety-related research experiments and topics
  • Develop and maintain safety information for Operators to incorporate into their Safety Cases
  • Contribute to the development of electronic Safety Case tools (eSC) and undertake nuclear safety assessments
  • Provide safety management activities and product design safety expertise

Requirements:

  • Degree or postgraduate qualifications in Science or Engineering or a related subject
  • Previous experience working on munitions and/or nuclear reactors or other high-hazard industries
  • Knowledge of Safety Case content and ALARP determination
  • Understanding of Defence or Civil nuclear regulations
  • Ability to undertake critical analysis and assessment of complex systems
  • Effective communication skills (written, presentation, and spoken)
