Job Summary

Priory Group is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to work on our 12 bed rehabilitation and recovery ward as a Specialty Doctor. The successful candidate will be a member of the multidisciplinary team and be accountable to the consultant psychiatrist to ensure all the patients receive a holistic and person-centred treatment programme.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day responsibilities for medical management
  • Work closely with the GP
  • Take bloods for Clozapine and other investigations
  • Receiving blood results and taking appropriate actions including chasing if required
  • Lead on some CPA meetings
  • Assist the Consultant with preparation and production of reports
  • Attend some MHA Managers Hearings
  • Assessing new referrals and producing reports
  • Professional communication with patients families, care-coordinators and commissioners
  • Facilitate training on site to junior staff and support colleagues with induction of new starters
  • Attend training as required which may be off site
  • Clerking new admissions and writing discharge summaries
  • Working closely with the physical health nurse specialist

About the Role

The successful candidate will have good communication skills as the role involves communication with patients, GPs, CMHTs, Care Coordinators, patients' relatives etc. It is essential that they have experience working in mental health and it will be an added advantage if they have experience in rehabilitation setting. The consultant on site is part time so the successful candidate will provide medical cover in their absence.
