Exciting Opportunity in Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics

This is a unique chance to become part of a highly respected team at the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. The post is for a Consultant Obstetrician with a specialist interest in Fetal Medicine, joining a team of 4 fetal medicine Consultants within a level 2 specially commissioned unit.

The successful candidate will be part of a team of 27 Consultants that provide care within the Directorate of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post-holder will be required to provide the full range of obstetric skills which are based around Fetal Medicine, such as managing the Labour Ward, Antenatal clinics (including Rainbow clinics), Section Lists, and Maternity Assessment Unit in collaboration with existing consultants and within the multi-disciplinary team.

The post will have 2 sessions per week of Fetal Medicine scanning and time allocated for Scan Simulation training lead. Clinical Duties will be across both the Royal Stoke and County Hospital Sites with a total of 10. The on-call obstetric rota will be 1:14 on weekdays and weekends.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the Labour Ward, Antenatal clinics, Section Lists, and Maternity Assessment Unit
  • Provide Fetal Medicine scanning and training
  • Collaborate with existing consultants and the multi-disciplinary team
Person Specification
  • Completed ATSM in fetal medicine
  • Completed ATSM Advanced Labour ward / High risk antenatal
  • MRCOG
Clinical Experience
  • Competency in transabdominal and transvaginal fetal scanning
  • Experience in Scan Simulation Training
