About the Role

We are recruiting a Geriatrician Physician Specialist who wishes to contribute to the provision of excellent and compassionate care at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive inpatient medical service, including diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients, and participating in the Consultant on-call rota as agreed with the appointee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provision of a comprehensive inpatient medical service.
  • Responsibility for diagnosis and treatment of elderly patients.
  • Undertake a weekly outpatient clinic.
  • Participate in the 1:11 Consultant on-call rota as agreed with the appointee.
  • Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.

Person Specification

Essential

  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Membership with the relevant Royal College for Physicians.
  • GMC registration and license to practice.
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Geriatrics and general medicine via a. CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), b. CESR or (c) European Community rights.

Desirable

  • Higher degree MD, PhD, Masters in other subjects (Education leadership).
