About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Paediatric Pharmacist Lead to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals. As a Senior Paediatric Pharmacist Lead, you will play a crucial role in delivering clinical pharmacy services to paediatric patients, supporting advanced/lead pharmacists in the delivery of services, and contributing to the development of specialist pharmacy services.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing highly specialist clinical pharmacy services to paediatric inpatients, including medicines reconciliation, medication review, formulation, and review of pharmaceutical care plans.
  • Offering expert advice on drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, therapeutic drug monitoring, and compatibilities of drugs to ensure holistic pharmaceutical care.
  • Participating in daily multidisciplinary ward rounds and offering pharmaceutical advice to medical and nursing staff.
  • Actively contributing at specialist clinical patient discussion meetings by providing highly specialist pharmaceutical advice.
  • Guiding and advising medical and nursing staff in the choice of therapy, supportive therapy, safe prescribing, and suitable methods of administration and formulation of drugs.
  • Providing and interpreting highly specialist pharmaceutical information to consultants, other medical and nursing staff, and patients.
  • Liaising with senior medical and nursing staff to plan therapies in advance of treatment.
  • Working as a non-medical prescriber in a designated area of clinical practice or working towards this qualification.
  • C onsidering the information needs of children with specialist conditions and providing written and verbal information for patients and parents.
  • Facilitating the implementation of local and national clinical trials.
  • Investigating, documenting, and reporting medicines-related incidents or complaints and exploring ways to minimize future occurrences.
  • Supporting and developing the prescribing and administration of specialist therapies during day-case admissions and at home.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in pharmacy and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • At least three years of post-registration experience leading to highly developed specialist knowledge, with two years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience of delivering clinical pharmacy services to a broad range of specialities and the ability to provide highly specialist advice.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise own work and that of others effectively.
  • Ability to communicate complex drug-related information and communicate with patients/parents.
  • Demonstrated word processing skills to input prescription information, produce reports, and document medicines information enquiries.
  • Audit, project management, or research skills.
  • Demonstrated skills for preparing injections and working in an aseptic environment.
  • Experience of training staff.

Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per annum (dependent on experience).
