About the Position

This Graduate Teaching Assistant role offers an exciting opportunity to join a well-established SEN School in East London. The successful candidate will work closely with our experienced teaching staff to provide individualised support to students with severe cognitive delay and Autism, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.

Responsibilities
  • Support students with special needs, including those with severe cognitive delay and Autism
  • Manage behaviours using positive strategies, such as positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques
  • Supervise students on breaks and school trips, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Set up and tidy away lesson resources, maintaining a safe and organised classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to promote student progress and achievement
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Makaton, PECS, or Team-Teach training an advantage but not essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Previous experience in a classroom environment
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills
  • A positive, proactive, professional, friendly, and outgoing personality
Salary and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary, estimated to be around £22,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also have access to excellent training opportunities and the chance to work in a well-run SEN School with a friendly culture.
