Job Description

The Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer role at GE Aviation's Power Conversion UK is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled and enthusiastic individual to make a real impact on global projects. This position is based at our Marine Power Test Facility (MPTF) in Whetstone, Leicester, a state-of-the-art facility that plays a crucial role in de-risking and testing energy and propulsion technologies.

This role offers a unique chance to work with a diverse engineering and business community, reporting directly to the Systems Engineering Manager. As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining project and site facility drawings for electrical and mechanical installations.

  1. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory health and safety requirements.
  2. Develop and maintain all project and site facility drawings for electrical and mechanical installations.
  3. Prepare multiple view drawings (3D and 2D) with a focus on 3D designs.
  4. Review engineering drawings and designs for accuracy to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
  5. Provide technical support to Engineering colleagues.
  6. Survey existing buildings, structures, cable routing, and pipe routing as required, and align 3D layout models and drawings.
  7. Maintain and update the facility 3D plant layout model.
Qualifications/Requirements
  1. City & Guilds/HNC/HND/Degree in Computer Aided Design.
  2. Proficiency in AutoCAD 3D / Auto Desk Inventor and 2D CAD software for drafting.
  3. Experience in cable routing, containment, pipe work installation, machine and support structure arrangement, and 3D plant design for infrastructure or industrial plant layout.
  4. Ability to create electrical schematics, single line diagrams (SLD), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID).
  5. Ability to create detailed mechanical drawings, including dimensioning, tolerances, material type, in accordance with BS 8888.
  6. Application of mechanical principles for structures, construction, material selection.
  7. The applicant must be a sole national British citizen and have a valid UK passport and a valid full UK driving license.
