Quantity Surveyor Job Description

Octavius Infrastructure is a leading civil engineering organisation dedicated to delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.

We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing rail infrastructure across the Wales and Western region. The successful candidate will be responsible for the robust commercial management of a variety of projects under the Wales & Western Stations and Buildings Work Contract for Control Period 7 (CP7).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage all project costs in accordance with contractual agreements.
  • Oversee financial performance, ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are met.
  • Administer change control processes and adhere to contractual timescales.
  • Identify and manage risks and opportunities effectively.
  • Deliver compliant procurement processes and manage the supply chain.
  • Handle commercial queries and advise on legal matters, including disputes.
  • Monitor project progress, conduct site visits, and maintain financial logs and forecasts.
  • Prepare and attend monthly cost review meetings, identifying variations and actions.
  • Ensure compliance with Octavius Infrastructure's and clients' assurance processes and legislative requirements.
Requirements:
  • Proven success in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Experience in a civil engineering environment.
  • NEC Contracts experience.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional membership with RICS or CICES (desirable).
