At Virtual Hub, we're seeking a dedicated Familiy Support Specialist to join our team in supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced people in Cambridge and its surrounding areas. The successful candidate will be fluent in Dari and English, with excellent translation skills for speakers of other languages.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families as they settle into their new community. You'll work closely with statutory and voluntary organisations to provide essential support and signposting services.

The key aspects of this role include:

  • To welcome and support refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced people in Cambridge and its surrounding areas.
  • To assess individual needs, providing guidance on specialist services and motivating individuals to access them.
  • To maintain strong partnerships with local authorities, healthcare providers, and education institutions.

Your expertise will ensure that the service delivered meets the criteria of the resettlement scheme, aligning with the needs and expectations of individuals and families.

We're looking for someone with at least 2 years' experience in frontline family support, preferably with a focus on working with families with diverse cultural backgrounds.

Your ideal skillset includes:

  • Fluency in Arabic and English, with excellent translation skills.
  • Awareness of the experiences and needs of refugees, including those with disabilities.
  • Exceptional IT skills, particularly with MS Office, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience in accessing and participating in funded childcare for young children.

You'll be an asset to our team if you have a good understanding of local support and statutory services, along with the ability to navigate these systems effectively.
