At Unlikely AI, we're pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence to create innovative solutions that transform industries. As a visionary Staff Applied Scientist, you'll play a key role in driving our technical leadership and shaping the future of AI.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Transform Research into Reality: Convert cutting-edge neurosymbolic AI research into impactful language generation products, leveraging hybrid neurosymbolic systems to push the boundaries of language generation.
  2. Lead Research Projects: Drive the design, development, and execution of high-impact scientific research projects, harnessing the latest advancements in Machine Learning.
  3. Code for Impact: Write robust software, integrating neural and symbolic components for deployment in real-world production systems, handling datasets for both neural training and symbolic extraction.
Requirements:
  1. Deep learning expertise with 6+ years of hands-on experience in deep learning and 2+ years in language generation, including working with Large Language Models, neural-symbolic integration, and knowledge representation.
  2. Deep knowledge of machine learning fundamentals.
  3. A proven track record of mentoring and coaching others.
Desirable:
  1. Proficiency in Python libraries that encourage best practices, such as pytest, pylint, black, etc.
  2. Experience with symbolic reasoning engines and integration with neural networks.
  3. Strong technical writing skills, as evidenced by relevant publications or blogs.
  4. Proficiency working with cloud platforms for deploying hybrid AI systems.

Please note that this role is not a pure research position, but you should be comfortable with reading and utilizing academic papers to apply concepts in your work.

Work Environment:

We operate a hybrid scheme, with a small office near Holborn tube station available to those who want to work there. We also have occasional team days and flexible remote work arrangements.

Compensation:

Compensation will be through salary and generous share options, with a tax-efficient EMI share option scheme set up to provide real exposure to the company's success without taxes being due when they are paid.
