The University of Bristol is seeking a Senior Research Associate to contribute to a qualitative research study as part of the OPTIMAL feasibility trial. The trial aims to assess the feasibility of an RCT of lower dose MMF versus higher dose MMF in older kidney transplant recipients.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading qualitative data collection and analysis, as well as contributing to overall trial analysis. They will also be involved in writing-up results for publications and presentations, and working with the patient advisory group to write a plain language summary of the study findings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing an interview topic guide with the patient advisory group and the PI
  • Undertaking in-depth semi-structured qualitative interviews with trial participants, non-participants, and healthcare professionals
  • Leading analysis of the qualitative data
  • Contributing to overall trial analysis
  • Writing-up results for publications and presentations

Requirements include a good honours degree in social or health sciences, a relevant postgraduate research degree, and experience of leading qualitative data collection and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a track record of excellence in research project administration and delivery, and be excited about undertaking research to understand the experiences of people with failing kidney transplants.
