About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Air Quality Consultant to join our team at Ardent Consulting Engineers. As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in our continued development and growth, working on a wide range of projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake desk-based air quality and odour assessments, including data collection and interpretation.
  • Conduct ambient and indoor air quality, odour, and dust monitoring, including site-based monitoring and assessment.
  • Develop and apply advanced dispersion modelling techniques for road traffic emissions and other sources.
  • Use geographic information systems (GIS) to build models and present results.
  • Process and analyse air quality, emissions, and meteorological data to support air quality assessments.
Project Management
  • Lead and manage the technical delivery of projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Attend and contribute to design team, client, and pre- and post-contract meetings.
  • Liaise with project team members and local authorities to discuss approaches and obtain necessary inputs.
  • Contribute to the winning of new business through sales material and market research.
Requirements
  • Excellent MS Office skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Intermediate/Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and problem solve in a scientific context.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong mathematical/quantitative analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
Travel and Experience
  • A full driving licence is essential for site surveys and travel.
  • Experience using programming languages, such as Python or R.
  • Knowledge of a particular environmental specialism or market sector.
  • Previous experience in a consultancy environment, including work placements or relevant voluntary experience.
Qualifications and Membership
  • Minimum upper second degree-level qualification in engineering, science, maths, or the environment.
  • Post-graduate qualification, e.g., MSc or PhD in an environmental or air quality-related discipline.
  • Membership of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM).
