Job Description

As a skilled Wireline Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of Wireline - Pressure Control Equipment (PCE) and Downhole Tools (DHT). This is a full-time, permanent position based in Aberdeen, with a competitive salary of approximately £40,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, pressure test, and function test PCE tools such as Crossovers, Lubricators, Pump In Subs & Insitu Subs, Stuffing Boxes, Liquid Seal Subs, Greaseheads, and Wireline Valves (WLV), Hydraulic Ball Valves, Non Company Products, Gate Valves & Ezi-Shear & Seal Valves.
  • Disassemble, inspect, reassemble, pressure test, and function test DHT's (Slickline Tools) such as Variball Roller Systems, Pulling Tools, Releasable Overshots, Wireline Accelerators, Hydraulic Jars.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of all PCE and DHT working towards fault finding and troubleshooting.
  • Read and understand engineering/manufacturing drawings and assimilate data.
  • Use hydraulic pumps for pressure testing PCE.
  • Water blast company and customer-owned PCE.
  • Safely move goods around using a Forklift and electric pallet truck.
  • Work overtime, sometimes regularly, to meet department needs, which can be requested at short notice.
  • Complete risk assessments accurately and adapt highlighted hazards to ensure zero risk for personnel.
  • Assist with maintenance work to facilities, plant, and equipment within the workshop or yard when required.
  • Maintain a clean and clear Workshop and Yard area, including keeping the yard clear from snow and ice in winter, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Support, assist, and communicate with the Assembly and Test Department formally and informally to ensure high operations and expectations are understood.
  • Gain product knowledge on company and customer-owned PCE and DHT.
  • Familiarize yourself with and use quality system documentation and forms applicable to the role and tasks performed.
  • Deputize for the Senior Assembly and Test Technician as needed.

Requirements

  • HNC/HND (or working towards) in Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant subject with proven experience in a similar role of at least two years.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of PCE and DHT.
  • Mechanically sympathetic.
  • Forklift Training.
  • Manual handling.
  • High Pressure Water Jetting Awareness.
  • Full UK Driving License (Desirable).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages and ERP system, preferably Microsoft Dynamics AX.
  • Supervisory Training Personal Qualities.
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Good collaborative team working skills who takes responsibility for own work and similarly supports the achievement of company objectives.
  • Proactive and self-motivated.
  • Hardworking, reliable, and able to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, excellent time, and organization skills.
  • Highly professional conduct.
  • Must be prepared to work in weather-determined environments.
  • High standard of personal and process safety.
  • Must be willing to travel and able to spend time away from home.
