Behaviour Support Opportunity

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Support to join our client schools in Wakefield, South Yorkshire. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about supporting young people with behavioural challenges, helping them to improve their engagement in education and personal development.

Job Summary:

As a Behaviour Support, you will work closely with students who require additional behavioural and emotional support. Your role will involve providing one-to-one and group interventions to help students develop positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social skills. You will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment and supporting students' overall well-being and academic progress.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide targeted support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them manage their emotions and behaviours in a positive way.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to promote a positive learning environment, ensuring all students feel safe and supported.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policies, encouraging positive social interactions and engagement in learning.
  • Monitor and assess students' behaviour, providing feedback to teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral teams.
  • Build strong relationships with students to help them overcome barriers to learning.
  • Work with staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure a consistent approach to behaviour management.
  • Support the development of Individual Behaviour Plans (IBPs) tailored to students' specific needs.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational or behavioural support role.
  • A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies to support students with challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, resilience, and empathy when working with students facing behavioural and emotional difficulties.
  • The ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations and student needs.
  • A valid DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one.
