Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled General Counsel to join our team at eNL Legal Recruitment. As a key member of our organization, you will provide strategic legal advice to our clients and play a critical role in shaping the legal direction of our business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial, corporate, and intellectual property law, with a good understanding of data protection law. You will possess excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with our clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic legal advice to our clients on a range of matters, including commercial, corporate, and intellectual property law.
  • Lead and manage the in-house Legal Services Team, inspiring high performance and ensuring the provision of effective and efficient legal support.
  • Supervise members of the Legal Services Team and ensure compliance with relevant Solicitors Regulation Authority and Bar Council requirements.
  • Procure and manage external legal services when required, ensuring quality and value are achieved.
  • Manage the legal budget and resources within the role's responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor holding a current SRA Practicing Certificate.
  • Demonstratable recent post-qualification experience with a minimum of 5 years at a senior level.
  • Possessing outstanding technical legal skills and experience in one or more of the following: commercial, corporate, and intellectual property law, with a good understanding of data protection law.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An understanding of charity law and broad expertise across regulatory matters which may impact a University.
