Job Description:

Look Ahead is seeking a compassionate and resilient Specialist Behavioural Support Worker to join our Common Road service in Slough. The successful candidate will work closely with our customer, A, who has a mild learning disability and autism, to support him in living a full life, developing skills, and maintaining his wellbeing.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support A to undertake a full timetable of preferred activities, including art, visiting galleries, attending community groups, visiting local amenities, and introducing new activities to expand his horizons and networks.
  • Develop A's independent living skills, involving him in all aspects of maintaining and developing his home, including cooking, shopping, cleaning, and decorating.
  • Enable A to keep up with important people in his life and meet new people with shared interests.
  • Support A to communicate his wants and needs, and communicate with him in a person-centred way.
  • Support A to manage his anxieties and frustrations, using Positive Behaviour Support and Autism-specific approaches.
  • Collate a range of behavioural data and essential paperwork for analysis within our local management structure.
  • Drive A to activities using his vehicle, in rotation with the wider team.
  • Communicate with family members and other key stakeholders, including social work, psychology, and commissioning teams.

Requirements:

  • Experience in working with people with learning disabilities and autism.
  • Demonstrated ability to cope positively with challenging and diverse behaviour.
  • Valid driving licence and willingness to drive as part of support duties.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
