Mission Analysis and Flight Mechanics Expertise

DEIMOS is recruiting a highly skilled Atmospheric Flight Engineer to join its Mission Engineering Business Unit. The successful candidate will support new growth areas in mission and flight engineering for space missions that include atmospheric flight phases.

The position involves activities in Mission Analysis and Flight Mechanics, with applications from satellites to atmospheric vehicles. The successful candidate will work on trajectory optimization, safety analysis, flying qualities analyses, and aeroshape design.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform mission analysis and performance assessments
  • Optimize trajectories for launchers and re-entry vehicles
  • Conduct safety analysis for flight segments
  • Analyze flying qualities
  • Design aeroshapes
  • Perform aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics analyses of innovative flying vehicles

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field
  • At least 1 year of experience in the practical application of mission analysis and flight mechanics
  • Strong technical background in hypersonic and supersonic aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics
  • Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and multi-disciplinary design optimization (MDO)

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with aeroshape design and relevant contribution to ESA, EU, national or defence projects
  • Knowledge of launch systems, planetary entry systems, and aeronautics systems
  • Simulation modelling and design, execution, and analysis skills

Language and Communication Skills:

  • High level of English, spoken and written
