North East Derbyshire District Council is a dynamic and innovative organization that prioritizes its people-centric culture.
We are looking for an experienced Governance Manager to join our team, providing expert advice on the operation of democratic processes and the Constitution.
The postholder will be responsible for managing our small but friendly Governance Team and introducing new technology to enhance our services.
Job Description
This high-profile role offers a chance to manage formal meetings and provide effective supervision to Team members. The successful candidate will have experience of leading a Governance team within a local authority or relevant sector background.
You should be able to demonstrate your ability to manage a significant workload, operate at a corporate level, and understand the Council's delivery ambitions.
The ideal candidate will be politically astute, diplomatic, and able to respond positively to challenges and demanding deadlines.
Key responsibilities include advising on the operation of the Constitution, engaging with the Standards Committee, and developing the skills of Team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proven experience of leading a Governance team in a local authority or relevant sector background
- Ability to manage a significant workload and operate at a corporate level
- Good understanding of the Council's delivery ambitions and how they will be achieved
- Politically astute and diplomatic with excellent communication skills
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience, as well as:
