Purchasing Manager

Our client, a leading precision engineering business, seeks to appoint an experienced purchasing professional as they continue to grow and expand their operations.
The business is well-positioned to become a key player in the supply chain to the UK's construction and transport industries, where there is significant demand and potential for future growth.
As the Purchasing Manager, you will have a strong understanding of engineering and previous experience working for a manufacturing/engineering business with experience of technical buying.
You will be responsible for managing and controlling the purchase of goods, materials, and services for individual projects throughout the company, coordinating with the Project Managers, Material Controllers, and Manufacturing teams.
You'll need to be a skilled negotiator capable of building long-lasting partnerships throughout an engineering supply chain, a strategic thinker capable of putting a procurement strategy into action, and a great communicator to build effective internal and external relationships.
The Purchasing Manager will be based at the company's Grantham manufacturing site, which boasts cutting-edge engineering and fabrication, ensuring the highest quality standards from start to finish.
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in accordance with specified technical, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Negotiate contracts, improved prices, and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilizing negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
- Interface with other departments and suppliers for all matters related to the procurement of project materials, equipment, and sub-contract services.
- Provide procurement support for new designs, and when necessary, participate in bid reviews and evaluations.
Requirements:
- Well-established experience in buying/procurement in engineering/manufacturing.
- Possess strong knowledge on procuring technical equipment/materials.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, negotiate effectively, and coach other members of the team where appropriate.
- Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS).
