We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Mechanical Design Director to join our team at iO Associates - UK/EU. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex mechanical systems and components for various product lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design Development:
    • Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks or Inventor.
    • Develop and refine mechanical designs to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability criteria.
  • Prototyping & Testing:
    • Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance specifications.
    • Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure product quality and functionality.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers and product managers, to ensure integrated design solutions.
    • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and design workshops.
  • Problem Solving:
    • Analyze and resolve design-related issues, including material selection, tolerances, and assembly processes.
    • Utilize FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools to optimize designs.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Prepare technical documentation, including design specifications, testing protocols, and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to mechanical design.

The ideal candidate should have over 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in product design and the industrial automation sector. They should possess strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

In return, we offer a competitive salary of £65,000-£90,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional development.
